Natural forests as well as the excellent views from the legendary Veitsgrotte rock (Grotte Saint-Vit), from the Rappenfelsen, and from Greifenstein Castle are among the highlights of this hike high above the Zorn valley.
From the Angelweiher Étang de Ramsthal, the path gently ascends through the Ramsthal decorated with old beeches, firs, and oaks with the red triangle to the shelter at Fontaine Mélanie. At the spring, our sign branches off into a side valley, climbs the Rocher du Breitkopf rock massif, and finally merges into the Route Forestière du Herrgott, which leads left over the Herrgott height to the Maison Forestière Schweizerhof, 437 m.On the way to Schweizerhof, our path was recently marked with a red oblique cross. We now follow this, accompanied soon by the blue-white-blue rectangle (signpost to the Grotto). In brisk hiking, we reach the long-distance trail GR 531 with the blue rectangle. Before we turn left to the Grotte Saint-Vit, it is worthwhile to take the detour on the right along a path (also marked with a blue rectangle) to the Rappenfelsen, 380 m, with an excellent deep view high above the Zorn valley. From the Rappenfelsen, our sign leads back to the scenic Grotte Saint-Vit, 390 m.
