Above Berchtesgaden – in the area of the Obersalzberg railway – numerous small roads and hiking trails crisscross the extensive wooded slopes below the Kehlstein. The main traffic artery is the Dürreckstraße towards Vorderbrand. Along it lie some preferred excursion destinations such as the Gasthaus Graflhöhe ("Windbeutelbaron"), which we choose today as our starting point. From here we want to go to the rock half-round on the west side of the Hoher Göll – the Endstal – which gives the area a high alpine character. In addition, there is a much-frequented excursion inn – the Scharitzkehlalm – which provides an additional attraction.
From the Gasthaus Graflhöhe on Scharitzkehlstraße, we hike about 15 minutes south along the Carl-von-Linde-Weg and reach Scharitzkehlstraße. We cross the road (one can also continue on the road for 15 minutes until you reach the access road to the Scharitzkehlalm and then enter the Endstal) and reach a wide gravel path. Here we keep right (left leads to Ligeretalm) and arrive at the Scharitzkehlalm. After stopping at this alpine hut surrounded by steep mountain slopes, we go left past the building and reach the rear Endstal after 15 minutes. Right in front of us rise the mighty rock cliffs of the Göll west face.Where the path makes a sharp bend, one could climb a bit higher on a trail. But we continue on the now asphalted road, which first ascends gently, then levels off to Ligeretalm, 1190 m. Continue level until after about 20 minutes the "Ligeret circular trail" branches off on the left.Down the forest path, at a fork take right, down to Scharitzkehlstraße and back along this to
