The Elmpter Schwalmbruch is a nature reserve of about 300 hectares with an extensive lowland moor located by the Schwalm in its center. You can experience the Schwalmbruch and its nature more intensively via a wooden boardwalk in the west of the marsh and a viewing platform on the Blockenberg.
We start from the parking lot at Oebeler Bruch over the Schwalm bridge and continue straight for a short distance. Behind the next bridge, we follow the path to the right along the Schwalm (X, A4). After the last buildings, the sandy path runs between the Venekotensee and another quarry lake to a weir located on the right side. On a tree, we see the blue sign of the »Water Hiking World Lower Rhine 1«. Now we follow the path to the left and come to a fork. Here, a wooden boardwalk branches off to the right, which leads in a small curve around a biotope and simultaneously provides information about it via info boards (A5, A12). At the next crossroads, we turn left, continuing to follow the Water Hiking World sign. Now we go left onto a path leading to the Blockenberg Tower viewing platform, from which there is a beautiful view of the local marsh landscape. Additionally, there are info boards here providing information about the bird species found there. For example, storks also nest
