Elmauer Alm

By car, you drive via the toll road to the parking lot at the Hotel Kranzbach. From there, you hike along the Kranzbach stream towards Elmauer Alm. After about 500 meters, keep left at the fork and pass through a forest near the beehives. Now continue on a good path through the Pfanne. In early summer, this is a sea of flowers like no other. The entire area is under nature protection, and many species grow here that are found only here in Germany. There are also butterflies and rare insects. These meadows are mowed only once a year. After another 500 m of path, go left uphill and after 1 km on a narrower, rocky, easy path up to Elmauer Alm. You will enjoy varied views of the Wetterstein massif. After a short break at Elmauer Alm (bring your own snacks and drinks, as nothing is provided to hikers), you first walk a short stretch back on the same path as the ascent, then head towards Elmau, turn left after about 1 km, and hike parallel to the toll road through the Drüsselgraben back to the parking lot. Alternatively, you can also take the more pleasant, flatter ascent path back. Take sleds in winter.
