The ascent follows the Obrigensteig trail up to the Schrammsteine; from there, it continues along the base of the cliffs to the Rauschenstein.
From the parking lot in Bad Schandau, we follow the “yellow line” markings upstream along the Elbe promenade. In Postelwitz, several beautiful half-timbered houses have been preserved. At Zahnsgrund, we turn left. After walking a few meters along the road, the Obrigensteig trail branches off to the right. It is the shortest route up to the edge of the Elbe Valley.Once you reach the ridge, a beautiful view back into the Elbe Valley opens up to the right. The trail leads directly to the fork at the Schrammtor. We keep to the right on the Elbleitenweg and make our way around the Vorderen Torstein. Marked throughout with green dots, the trail runs along the base of the cliffs to the Teufelsturm, a climbing peak in a class of its own. Square and forbidding, it juts out from the cliff face. The climbs are extremely difficult.A little further along the trail toward Schmilka, we reach the Rauschenstein, another freestanding climbing rock. It has been used since ancient times as a lookout
