The Antrifttal between Ruhlkirchen is a quiet, rural area, bordered by Eichberg to the north and Eulenberg to the south. To the west, the land rises to one of the highest elevations in the area, the Arnshainer Höhe, and deep in the valley lies the Dammesmühle estate, home of the Reiterfreunde Antrifttal.
This route can be booked with us as a husky hike.

Safety information
The route presents no special hazards for hikers.
Dogs brought along should be kept on a leash between April and September. As the forests are rich in wildlife, it is recommended to keep dogs on a leash all year round.
Please take special care between May and July for hidden fawns along the path!
Whenever barriers marked with flutter tape indicate hunting or tree-felling work, the blocked area must be strictly avoided.
Tips and suggestions
- If you have time, you can take a detour to Bernsburg to visit the Gasthof Schneider (Facebook page): hearty schnitzel and other dishes, even salad!
- The Gasthaus Selzer in Ruhlkirchen (directly at the bus stop!) offers simple, clean rooms with hearty breakfast - and if you feel like it, you can book the wine caching tour for the second day!
Roadbook
We follow the Oberdorf road out of the village towards the east, passing the small Marian chapel above the path and turning half left at the second junction. The paved path stretches up the mountain to a wind turbine. Just before it, there is a crossroads where we turn left and take the path down into the valley. We cross the country road in the valley (L3344) and take the path that rises to the right. We follow it up the long ridge of the Eulenberg, until the path ends after a left curve at a wide forest service road. We follow this gravel road to the left straight through the forest over two intersections. At the next fork, we follow the signs DW (Dorfweg Antrifttal) half right. This path is also perfectly straight and passes two small huts in the forest on the right side. At the fork, we choose the path half left into the denser forest and follow the gravel main route first to the right and then in a wide left curve around the summit of the Eulenberg.
Several grass-covered paths, barely more than wheel tracks, cross the path that leads us downhill until after just under a kilometer it flows into another path, where we turn sharp right. This forest path leads us like through a gate to the fields on the slope of the Eichberg, where we can enjoy the view of Bernsburg and the valley. We turn into the second field path on the left and walk to the road, which we follow to the right up to the village sign, where we turn left onto the lane to the Grubenmühle.
At the end of the public road, a field path joins in on the left, which we follow. The grass-covered path leads us along the meandering Antrift to a small stream. Here we keep right and immediately turn left into the path by the shed, which leads us to a cluster of fish ponds. From here it goes through wet terrain to the road (K63, Ruhlkirchen - Bernsburg). We follow the road to the left, cross the bridge and then turn into the driveway to the Dammesmühle premises (clearly marked with the Kirtorf coat of arms).
Between a shed and a half-timbered house, the path goes half left uphill. After about 300 m, we follow the field path that branches off to the right, over the fields until the path merges into another. From there it goes downhill past a large hunting stand. In the meadows, it can get a bit tricky between the mown areas, so you just have to go straight towards the edge of the forest, where the path opens like a gate.
We follow the forest path along the foot of the Eulenberg towards the south and meet a path coming down from the ridge of the mountain after about 600 m, which we follow into the village. Here we walk straight ahead on the Weihersweg, into which the path continues, until we reach the Fischbacher Straße (L3344), which we cross to go up to the church and the Oberdorf road via the Pfarrweg.
