The Hiking Friends Ludwigshafen/RH. e.V. offer several PW (permanent hiking trails) in cooperation with the city of Bad Dürkheim.
The circular hiking trail leads to the Limburg monastery ruins. In the Middle Ages, the Reich insignia, the greatest treasure of the Holy Roman Empire, were said to have been kept in the Benedictine monastery Limburg. Here, the four Advent Sundays for the entire Christian western world were established. The atmosphere of the monastery ruins can also be enjoyed on a guided tour, at the operas, theaters, and concerts of the “Limburg-Summer” or in the monastery garden of the restaurant.
The routes are marked both forwards and backwards. The described route is forwards. On this route there are 2 self-check points attached to the main trail signs.

After leaving the Tourist Info, turn left and follow Schlossgartenstraße into the Kurpark. After crossing the Isenach, follow the path to the right into the Kurpark. After a few meters you reach a fork and take the left path past the statue "She and He" slightly uphill to the St. Ludwig Church, where you meet Kurgartenstraße. After a few meters, go left past Ludwigsplatz and follow Kurgartenstraße into the pedestrian zone there. After a few meters, the Weinstraße Nord comes from the right. Keep left there and reach Römerplatz with numerous places to stop and eat. Römerplatz continues directly into Römerstraße, which you follow straight ahead. Before you reach the city museum (cultural center Haus Cartoir) turn left into Strauchelgasse. Follow this slightly uphill until you reach a cross street – Leiningerstraße – where you turn right. At the end, turn right a few meters into Gaustraße, then left onto Limburgstraße. You walk past the Vier Jahreszeiten wine cooperative, straight ahead until you reach the cemetery. There, go left and after a few meters at a fork follow the left path – Limburgstraße – gently uphill for about 500 m. Near the end you will see a narrow path with 2 marking posts, which you follow upwards. You now walk to the right, a few meters beside Luitpoldweg, an access road to Limburg. You see signs "Hochzeitspfad" on the left and right. Shortly after, cross the street to the left and follow a path gently uphill for about 1.1 km always parallel to the street on your right, ignoring all left and right turnoffs. From this path you have wonderful views of Limburg. This path then leads back into the access road to Limburg and after a few meters you reach the Fünfguldenberg parking lot.
There is a main trail sign with the number BAÜ.080.1. Pay attention here to self-check and route separation. While the 12 km and 22 km routes branch left, the 8 km route continues right to Limburg. You walk a few meters on the sidewalk next to the road and then turn right slightly uphill on a narrow path to Limburg monastery ruins. Behind the ruins and parking lots, a narrow path with many stairs leads down to the Grethen district. Passing the Protestant church, go left into Friedrich – Ebert – Straße until you reach a cross street. Turn left and follow Bürgermeister – Gropp – Straße for about 300 m until house number 35. In this area, go right (sign Pfalzmuseum) down some stairs and underpass federal road B 37. At the end, you reach Herrmann – Schäfer – Straße and see on the left the restaurant Traminerklause. Pay attention here at main trail sign BAÜ.217.1 with self-check. Turn right and follow the street until a small bike and pedestrian path branches off to the right, which you follow. You reach a traffic light, cross the street straight ahead and continue along the bike and pedestrian path next to B 37 for about 950 m until you reach Zumstein Winery. You have to walk around a roundabout there and enter Gerberstraße, which you follow towards the city center. Isenach is your constant companion. You continue along Gerberstraße until you reach stairs. Go up these, cross the traffic light and continue on Weinstraße Nord until you reach a fork. Here follow Kurbrunnenstraße to the right and after a few meters you reach your destination – the tourism info.
