After Hentern, you reach the banks of the Ruwer, which has its source at the Rösterkopf. You leave the Ruwer via the Ruwersteg footbridge. A long ascent lies ahead. On the ascent, you cross the former route of the Hunsrück railroad, which is now used as a cycle path from Hermeskeil to Trier. Impressive quartzite formations rise up in the middle of the forest.
Tales and legends surround the "Marjeterfelsen" formation, including the Marjeter ghost, who still lives in the caves and ruins of the huge rock today. After walking around the rock formation, the trail continues at ground level on a forest path before the second part of the ascent begins. The 490-metre-high Heckelbüschfelsen in Schillinger Forst is the highest point of the hike.
The route then descends towards Hentern. The Ruwer is later crossed a second time via a wooden footbridge. The last part of the hike begins with a long ascent along a forest path that winds its way through the forest like a lindworm.
The trail has been awarded 79 experience points by the German Hiking Institute.

Roadbook
We cross the babbling brook via a new wooden footbridge. The most difficult but also most exciting part of the route awaits us over the next 1,500 meters. First, the Ruwer-Hochwald cycle path crosses our path and we follow the Mertesbach stream for a short distance. The path now climbs steeply up to two imposing quartzite rock formations - first to the Marjeterfelsen rock and a short time later to the Heckelbuschfelsen rock (490 m), which also marks the highest point of the hiking route.
Once at the top, a seating area invites you to take a well-earned breather. After the rocks, the trail descends again towards Hentern. Within sight of the former forester's lodge, we turn left into the forest. A short passage now leads along the district road to Zerfer station. The path then leads us over the Ruwer a second time and steeply uphill again to another viewpoint - the turntable. We now continue along a narrow path below the village of Baldringen and reach the Hentern sports field again at the end of the circular route.
