Dream loop Roman-Celtic path SHORTENED!

Remains of a Roman aqueduct, Celtic burial mounds, a menhir, an old Roman road: Near Farschweiler in the Osburger Hochwald, about halfway between Trier and Hermeskeil, you can discover exciting relics of our past. To successfully experience this, it is best to hike the Roman-Celtic path, which is one of the dream loops on the Saar-Hunsrück-Steig. We start the circular hike at the parking lot at the Wallabys barbecue hut (currently closed). The route begins clockwise and immediately we encounter the site of the Roman aqueduct at the sports field in Farschweiler. We continue hiking through the forest, pass through a Celtic burial mound field in the Kuhonner district and then reach the menhir of Farschweiler, a lying menhir that was discovered in 1929. Here we leave the marked trail of the dream loop and follow the forest path to the right. It goes over wider forest paths always close to the forest edge. Then a short stretch of gravel path and back into the forest. Finally, we come across the signs of the dream loop again and follow them. A first gentle, then steepening ascent leads us to the old Roman road. We follow the Roman road for about 700 m until a forest road crosses the forest to the starting point barbecue hut.
