Doubrava Valley

We set off from the Chotěboř – town square junction along the red trail towards Horní Mlýn for 2.5 km. From the mill, we continue still on the red trail towards Točitý Vír 1 km, Bílek (railway station) 5.5 km, and now we walk on the educational trail "Valley of the Doubrava." Along a comfortable path through the forest around the currently quiet Doubrava, we reach the Točitý Vír junction, near which the Kamenný brook flows into the Doubrava. Still following the red trail, we leave the Točitý Vír cottage settlement and after 1 km arrive at the Pod Čertovým stolkem junction. Around Veselá skála and a quarry, where the educational trail ends, we get to the village of Bílek. Here at the Bílek (railway station) junction, we turn left onto the green trail heading Pod Sokolohrady 2 km, Horní Mlýn 5 km. Along a peaceful forest path, we reach the turnoff to the Sokolohrady rock lookout. A short sharp descent takes us to the bridge over the Doubrava, and from the Pod Sokolohrady junction, we distinctly climb 0.5 km to the junction above Čertův stolek. To the rock lookout, from which there is a nice view of the Doubrava valley and the opposite Sokolohrady, we walk just under 100 m along the blue trail. We return the same way back to the junction above Čertův stolek and continue on the green trail 0.5 km to the Kamenný potok junction. After a short descent into the picturesque wooded valley of Kamenný potok, we turn left onto the blue trail towards Chotěboř – town square 4 km. For a while through the forest and then along the railway, we reach the railway station in Chotěboř, from where we return through the town about 1.5 km back to the square.
