Dornegg-Gütsch

Starting point: Coiffure Quirli at the Post bus stop (direction Herzogenbuchsee and Langenthal), 484 m above sea level.

To the southeast, the tower emerging from the forest (740 m above sea level) is visible.

We start on the Weyerwaldweg, past the Ingold carpentry, and at the end of the forest turn left to the clearly visible Hornusser hut. From here we continue toward Herzogenbuchsee, where the main road is crossed. After about 50 m, turn left along the forest edge past the Wysshölzli clinic and briefly through the forest to the elevation.

At this junction, follow the white signs for Bleienbach airfield and at the western end of the runway turn right and continue straight over the Altache creek to the main road. There, about 50 m to the right, then left onto the gravel path into the forest. At the first fork in the forest, take the left path to the next junction. Then go left uphill following the hiking trail signs. At the signpost “Schluecht” 580 m, head toward Dornegg until the “Dornegg” 608 m signpost.

Toward Rütschelen/Wil on the grassy path up to the forest edge. After about 60 m in the forest, leave the hiking path and take the steep biker trail directly up to the tower. A few meters past the tower heading south, follow the forest path slightly downhill to the left (see arrow) to the forest edge to enjoy the Alpine panorama.

Continue on the hiking trail to the right along the forest edge past the signpost “Dornegg-Gütsch” 727 m and past the fire pit “Schweizerfamilie” down to Linden. Below the forest edge, at the next signpost about 200 m toward Ursenbach Huttwil Affoltern to the Linden bridge.

Before the Linden bridge, turn right, cautiously descend the steep stairs, and cross the main road. Continue on the road toward Oschwand / Ochlenberg and after about 300 m turn right onto the grassy path, with a nice view of the Jura, down to the Neuhaus schoolhouse.

Pass the schoolhouse on the right, and after about 300 m turn left at the fire pond. Then follow the hedge on the right to Duppental.

In Duppental, turn right at the fire pond and at the next junction left continuing past the “Grütterhüsli” through the forest down to Thörigen / Oberdorf. After about 25 minutes, we reach the starting point in Bettenhausen.
