Along the trail above the Tauernhaus, five National Park educational signs guide you through the biotope conservation area, providing detailed information about the valuable flora and fauna of the upper Dorfertal and the still-intact slope moor landscape found there. An overall easy hike with plenty of varied informational opportunities; however, an ascent in the final section requires a certain level of fitness. Basic equipment for mountain hiking includes sturdy hiking boots with a good tread, a 30-35 liter backpack, and functional clothing based on the layering principle, including sufficient spare clothes. Essential items are rain, cold, and sun protection, adequate fluids and food, as well as a first-aid kit and a charged mobile phone. A map or a GPS device supports orientation.
