Because of its idyllic location and the massive granite blocks in the course of the Girnitz stream and on the gentle valley slopes, it is a popular excursion destination, especially for hikers and families. By the way, the rock block sea there was exposed by erosion processes of the Girnitz and not transported downstream by the force of the flowing water from higher areas like mountain streams.
The approximately 750 m long section of the Girnitz stream, which flows through the block sea of massive, rounded granite blocks, can be reached via several hiking trails from Neustadt or Weiden. Starting points for an excursion can also be the villages of Wildenreuth Diepoltsreuth or the Gollwitzer Hof (with campsite and bathing pond).
