To get to the Grande Dixence dam, we take the bus from Sion. Gigantic and impressive: these are really the terms to describe this work in the middle of nature!
We go up to the crest by cable car in a few minutes. This saves us 45 minutes of effort. From up there, the view is magnificent over the Val des Dix and the surrounding mountains. Let's admire this technical feat and this exceptional construction.
We take our path just behind the cable car and steadily walk always above 2000 meters until our final destination: Thyon 2000. The trail, always well marked, is traveled by many hikers. But the effort is still demanding, especially because of its length and altitude.
