In the rarely beautiful beech forests along the Dillingerweg, a mostly recreational discovery trail above the Günz valley, some relict plants from the Alpine region thrive. Moraines from several ice ages are stacked in tiers, exposing the weathered rock in places. The marsh warbler and snipe still feel at home in the valley meadows.
In Obergünzburg, 737 m, we discover a narrow street at the market square that leads between the church and Gasthof Engel. We then turn left onto Kapitän-Nauer-Straße and left again onto the sidewalk of Krankenhausstraße. Walking towards Ollarzried, we join the Günztal cycle path after the end of the village. At the first bend, the Dillingerweg trail branches off, which is initially uphill and leads along magnificent mixed beech forest slopes as a woodchip path.Soon after a small bridge over a stream ditch, there is a short descent before the Dillingerweg trail changes to a forest path at a spring. Up and down again, then we can visit the Reverdys spring, 780 m, bubbling out of a crevice in a "horsetail jungle", where the rare Bavarian spoonwort thrives.A little later, at a hut, we follow the ascending path and, at a Nagelfluh rock on the right, the somewhat steep slope route, which has unfortunately been significantly shortened since storm damage.
