From the hiking parking lot, first walk 100 m back towards the village on a paved road (Eckstraße). Then turn sharply right (Schweitzertalstraße) and continue on the paved road. Soon the road ends at the forest edge, where you turn sharply left onto a forest path (you can see the sign “red deer”), which initially leads somewhat steeply uphill to Steinberg. [Alternatively, at the first fork, instead of turning left to Steinberg, you can turn right. This path also leads via a hiking trail to the Peterseiche].
At the height, turn right onto the Saar-Blies-Mosel hiking trail (also part of the Way of St. James, or “red fox”).
This leads to the Peterseiche, an approximately 200-year-old oak tree. There turn right, shortly after turn left again (still on the Saar-Blies-Mosel trail, also Way of St. James). After a short distance, you come to the “Sieben Fichten” crossroads. Here there are resting places and a shelter.
At the “Sieben Fichten”, turn sharply right (signpost Bierbach, Grohbachtal, trail marker “red deer”, further trail name “Youth Hostel Trail”).
The path now steadily descends, passing some springs of small streams.
In the valley floor area, it passes two beautiful ponds. Here there is a rest and refreshment opportunity. After the Fischerhütte “Waldschenke” in the Grohbachtal, you are after a short distance back at the starting point of the circular hike.
