Debela peč is a popular local peak of the Lipanca pasture above Pokljuka. It is an easy two-thousander with exceptional views of the central Julian Alps, the Karavanke, and the Bled-Radovljica plain.
Debela peč is the easternmost two-thousander of the Julian Alps. The western wall drops steeply into Krma, while toward Bled in the southeast the peak shows a gentler, green, and friendly appearance. The starting points for the mountain route are the high plateau of Pokljuka and the Blejska hut in Lipanca on the pasture. The summit is grassy, and the slopes above Pokljuka are wooded shortly below the peak. Debela peč is quite visited due to its easy access, beautiful views of Triglav, Alpine valleys, and the Bled plain, as well as its proximity to the Blejska hut.
Author’s recommendation
Don't forget to bring a camera on the hike. Excellent maps from the Alpine Association of Slovenia will help you during the trip. The path is well marked with red and white markings and direction signs. Follow the signs for Lipanca or Blejska koča to reach the Lipanca pasture.

Hotel PokljukaSafety information
The path runs along a road for the first few minutes and crosses the main Bled–Rudno polje road (caution is advised). The lower part of the path passes partly through forest, also through pasture lands and high mountain pastures, so be aware of livestock on the pasture. The path is generally very easy, except for a short crumbly section just above Lipanca. The last few meters below the summit and the summit itself are exposed on the northern side with a precipice below, so do not walk along the edge. The Blejska hut in Lipanca is mostly open year-round, but it is advisable to bring a snack and enough liquid for thirst.

Roadbook
From the starting point, we head north along a local asphalt road for a few hundred meters to the main Bled–Rudno polje road, briefly turn left on it, and cross onto a forest road (road barrier). We follow the gravel forest road through the woods northward until we reach the edge of the Javornik mountain pasture after a short climb. We continue north across the expansive pasture (the ridge of mountains above the Lipanca pasture remains in front of us) until we meet another forest road, which we simply cross and then continue along a wide forest path. In the area of a large clearing, the path starts to rise noticeably and narrows. We cross a steeper forest section in two switchbacks (at the second one, a similarly marked mountain trail from Medvedova konta joins) which leads us to the pastures of the lower part of the Lipanca pasture. We go along the right edge through the forest, then cross a steep part of the pasture and arrive at the pasture with the Blejska hut in Lipanca. There are some other buildings on the pasture as well. From there, signs lead us to a viewpoint grassy rise east of the hut. At a nearby junction, we turn left into a hollow and through increasingly sparse forest to a steep step, which the path overcomes in a few short switchbacks on rough terrain, and we reach characteristic signboards. We continue steeply across grassy and later increasingly rocky terrain to the ridge above Krma, where a view of Triglav opens up. We cross right to the north toward the summit of Debela peč, with the path steeply ascending over the grassy slope of the summit block in the last hundred meters. The last few dozen meters follow a grassy ridge to the peak. The descent back across the Lipanca pasture to the starting point at Goreljek on Pokljuka follows the ascent route.
