Das alpine Berlin -WEST-, S-Bahn station Wannsee to S-Bahn station Spandau
"Das alpine Berlin", on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the German Alpine Club (DAV) and the Berlin section, we have created a clockwise circular route around Berlin in 7 main stages. With a total length of approx. 150km touching as many "alpine" mountain peaks as possible, this is the fourth main stage. All main stages are designated with the cardinal directions referring to the city center.
WEST is a main stage between S-Bahn station Wannsee and S-Bahn station Spandau. The path leads along the Havel on the Havelhöhenweg with many small ascents and beautiful views. It reaches the Grunewald tower and then directly to Teufelssee and Teufelsberg. After a visit to the climbing tower (built 1970) of the Berlin section, Drachenberg is ascended, offering an outstanding view of Berlin. Through the Teufels- and Postfenn (wetland), past Stößenseebrücke, which has been illegally used for climbing since 1968, back through the Tiefwerder meadows to the Havel and to S-Bahn station Spandau.
