Das alpine Berlin -SOUTH-, S-Bahn station Grünau to S-Bahn station Lichterfelde Süd
S-stage of the circuit around Berlin. From S-Bahn station Grünau to S-Bahn station Lichterfelde Süd. First a view from Falkenberg then through residential areas and subsequently wide fields. Further heights with beautiful panoramic views follow. Refreshments possible in Lichtenrade.
"Das alpine Berlin", on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the German Alpine Club (DAV) and the Berlin section, we have put together a circular route clockwise around Berlin in 7 main stages. With a total length of about 150 km and touching as many "alpine" mountain peaks as possible, this is the second main stage. All main stages are designated with the cardinal directions, relative to the city center.
SOUTH is a main stage between S-Bahn station Grünau and S-Bahn station Lichterfelde Süd.
It first leads to Falkenberg and further to Bohnsdorf. From the Rudow/Altglienicke Landscape Park, the residential areas are left behind and on the former DDR border troops post path, today's Wall Trail, the route runs along the southern city outskirts over the viewpoint hill Dörferblick, beautiful panoramic views, and wide fields to Lichtenrade. Next is the Marienfelde Leisure Park with viewing platform and Schlehenberg, lastly Lilienthalpark with Fliegeberg and to S-Bahn station Lichterfelde Süd.
Author’s recommendation
This stage is suitable for road/mountain bikes. Paths mostly paved and wide. Collisions with hikers can be avoided with considerate riding, pedestrians have "right of way"!.
