The circular tour combines three regional Jakobswege (see literature tip).

0.0 km Donaueschingen, Schützenbrücke
The tour begins in close proximity to the Fürstenberg Brewery, the St. Johann city church, the castle, and the Danube source. However, the path stays south of the Brigach and follows the river into the Fürstlich Fürstenberg Park. On the opposite bank of the Danube source river, opposite the Art.Plus museum, you can see the pretty Danube temple at the confluence of the Donaubach and Brigach. Then the front of the castle comes into view. Turn right at the park restaurant in front of the park swimming pool. (Those wishing to reach the confluence of Brigach and Breg must continue straight ahead for about another kilometer here.) The hiking trail to Hüfingen runs straight through the sprawling parklands, crosses Prinz-Fritzi-Allee, and continues straight along the industrial canal to the Allmendshofen sports field. Shortly thereafter, you reach the Breg and follow the second, larger source river of the Danube upstream, circuiting the Kofenweiher, to Hüfingen.
4.3 km Hüfingen
Attentive hikers will have already noticed that the Neckar-Baar-Jakobsweg has accompanied this hike for quite a while. In Hüfingen, several pilgrim routes meet or start. You follow the Neckar-Baar-Jakobsweg (see literature tip) through the lovely old town, past the Jakob statue and the castle, and over the mill canal back to the Breg. Here turn right and now follow the Himmelreich Jakobsweg (see literature tip) along the river to the Roman bath ruins.
5.6 km Roman Bath Ruins Hüfingen
This hiking tip continues along the Breg and leads beside the river to the neighboring town of Bräunlingen. TIP: Between the Roman bath and Bräunlingen, the path runs parallel to the Bräunlinger Beer Trail. Those interested more deeply in beer brewing tradition can hike the southern loop of the themed trail from the Roman bath along the ascending Schosenweg to the snack bar "Mostschöpfle" and continue uphill to Bräunlingen, passing numerous information boards about beer. Along the way, you also pass the start of the orchid educational trail "Deggenreuschen-Rauschachen."
8.4 km Bräunlingen
Cross the roundabout at the Löwenbrauerei and walk along Kirchstraße to the Mill Gate of the city wall. Turn left there into Zähringer Straße and now follow the marking of the Mistelbrunn-Jakobsweg (see literature tip) along Bruggener Straße and Tribergweg out of the old town. Before Triberg, turn right on the gravel path uphill to the Forest Museum (with a small arboretum) near the old shooting lodge.
9.4 km Bräunlingen, Triberg
At the Forest Museum, paths diverge. A forest trail leads over the hill; two hiking trails circle around it. Our recommendation is the left section of the "Triberg Path" in the direction of travel on the sunny side. A narrow-gauge trail runs through light forest south around the "Bergle" until all paths meet again. Turn left here downhill to the forest edge and always follow the gravel path straight ahead. The destination is the village of Bruggen. In the village, briefly walk right along the street, past the chapel to the Rosenhof Moßbrugger. Here, follow the hiking trail marking left through the meadows to the Breg, cross the river and climb up to the forest edge at the foot of the Schellenberg. In the forest, the path now makes two wide loops up to the local hill of Donaueschingen. At the top, at the "orange eight" (to draw attention to the "Forest is Climate Protector" initiative), turn right and follow the upper forest path first to the bench with a view of Feldberg (the promised view is not there), then along the forest edge to Amalienhütte. A side path leads through meadows to the Schellenberg viewing platform.
16.9 km Schellenberg
From Amalienhütte, continue on the asphalt path along the forest edge, soon turn right onto a field path, and bypass the Sonnenhalde clinic area. Passing the sports field, hike the last meters downhill to Donaueschingen. Along Bräunlinger Straße and Bahnhofstraße, you reach the bank of the Brigach again and hike along the river back to the Schützenbrücke.
