Between Fridingen and Beuron, the Danube has deeply carved into the limestone rocks of the Swabian Alb, creating an impressive landscape. Steep rock faces, magnificent deep views, castles and palaces, caves, and instead of bridges, there are fords. A true paradise for eagle owls, falcons, and chamois. It's worth hiking here. The only problem is where to cross the river. This must be well organized, otherwise one stands on the shore and can only look to the other side.
Author’s recommendation
Those who want can shorten the route. Then descend directly to the Danube to the Jägerhaus. Be sure to check the water level at the ford.

From the parking lot, first descend to the Knopfmacherfelsen viewpoint. Here a wonderful view into the Danube valley, to Bronnen Castle and to Beuron. Now return slightly uphill, turn right and later steadily descend into the Danube valley floor. Follow the valley along to an old wooden bridge at the entrance to Beuron. Cross the Danube here and on the opposite side, hike uphill westward along the valley. Now on the valley path against the flow direction of the Danube, pass the Probstfelsen, Schwarzwagfelsen, and the Schwarzwag cave uphill to the Jägerhaus. You can also reach it via the ford. There is a refreshment option in the Jägerhaus. Immediately after the Jägerhaus, steeply climb to the Jägerhaus and Bronner caves and to Bronnen Castle. This cannot be visited. Now with slight ups and downs over several viewpoints to a seating area. Several paths branch off here. We take the least conspicuous one without any markings immediately after the seating area on the right. At first, it is a path and then becomes a grass path. At a hairpin turn, do not follow the path but take the steep path down directly in the hairpin. The path becomes wider and improved here as well. Finally, the valley path is reached again. Passing above the Scheuerlehof, the Ziegelhütte is reached. Refreshments are possible here again. Now continue, crossing the Danube on a footbridge and walking to the next cross path. Here a path leads straight up the mountain. Over the Luggen viewpoint and the ski slope, the Laibfelsen is reached. Continue along the edge over the Mattheisen chapel to the Stiegelesfels and now along the forest edge back to the starting point at the Knopfmacherfelsen parking lot. Refreshments are possible here as well.
