The circular route takes us through the spectacular Dahner rock landscape and was awarded the German Hiking Seal as a “Premium Trail” in 2007.

The premium trail “Dahner Felsenpfad” takes us past numerous spectacular sandstone formations and offers magnificent views of the town and surrounding rocks. The red sandstone from which the rock formations consist was formed about 200 million years ago in the Triassic period. The distinctive shapes developed in the following years through erosion – a process that continues to this day. Because the rock masses consist of harder rock, they have so far withstood erosion, while the rocks around them were washed away and worn down. Famous are the rock needles Braut and Bräutigam and the legendary Jungfernsprung. According to legend, a maiden fleeing a knight jumped from the 70-meter-high rock and miraculously survived unharmed. Supposedly, a spring has been bubbling at the spot where her foot is said to have landed ever since. On our hike, we enjoy views of these natural monuments and pass by many other rock formations.
