Compared to the original route, the tour is slightly shortened.
The premium circular hiking trail "Dahner Felsenpfad" passes numerous impressive sandstone formations and offers us wonderful views of the town and the surrounding rocks.
Famous are the rock needles "Bride and Groom", Büttigfelsen, Schafsfelsen, Schwalbenfels, Schillerfels, Ungeheuerfels, and Pfaffenfels, which form particularly impressive formations.
The Dahner hut with playground, climbing opportunities, and barefoot path is especially suitable as a resting place for families with children.
Otherwise, many places to eat.
Path types: 50% forest roads, 50% narrow forest paths.
The trail is technically not very demanding.
Orientation: The trail is very well signposted throughout, so experienced hikers do not need a GPS. A map does not hurt as many paths cross.
Author’s recommendation
On weekends and during the holiday season the route is partly very heavily frequented.
Alternatives if the path is too crowded:
1) Eybergtour: Eybergtour route, Dahn (Pfalz)
2) Wolfstour: Wolfstour, Dahn (Pfalz)
3) Stiller-Wald-Tour: Stiller Wald route, Dahn (Pfalz)
These routes intersect at several points, so they can also be combined.
Combination with the route described here is also possible.

From the hiking car park (at the sports ground) on the Dahner Felsenpfad (DFP) heading south, then south to the Büttelwoog campsite, there eastwards past the Hotel Felsenland.
You meet the Felsenland Sagenweg (FLSW) and follow it.
The car road is crossed. At the junction "Jugendherberge" turn right. Go past "Bride & Groom", then continue uphill to the Wachtfelsen.
The Wachtfels can be climbed on a secured path. The ascent is worthwhile given the view over the Dahner Land.
From there downhill in 2 switchbacks. On the forest path turn left twice (trail designation: Felsenland Sagenweg or Dahner Felsenpfad depending on the map) until you meet the GR 53. Follow this south.
At the waypoint "Kirchbusch / Wieslautertal / Lampenteich" go uphill right on the Dahner Felsenpfad. At the trail crossing "Lampenteich / Lämmerteich" turn left to the Lämmerfelsen.
Along them to the Lämmerteich. There continue in a large right loop on the Dahner Felsenpfad / Eybergtour (designation depending on map) to the Büttelfels.
The Büttelfels can also be climbed via a ladder to reach another viewpoint.
Behind the Büttelfelsen, turn left twice until you walk again in a southwesterly direction.
Continue following the Dahner Felsenpfad along the northern slope of the Grauberg to the Ungeheuerfels.
From there continue on the Dahner Felsenpfad to the waypoint "Steinhöhl".
Here you can turn left onto the Felsenland Sagenweg (Elwetritschfelsen, Mooskopf), which makes the route about 2 km longer. Approximately 70 meters of elevation are added.
We chose a slightly shorter variant, staying at the same geographic height in a NW direction (trail designation: Kauert-Tour) to the trail cross "Schwalbenhalde / Weihersebene". Turn right there.
Continue following the trail designation "Kauert-Tour" or "Dahner Felsenland". Here you now pass the "Felsenarena" (sandstone formations) and reach Pfaffenfels.
A rest is worthwhile here because there is a beautiful panoramic view again.
From there follow the signs to Schwalbenfels and Schillerfels.
The ascent to Schwalbenfels is also worthwhile for the great view.
Continue on the Kauert-Tour to Schillerfels, again passing through a rock gate here.
Follow the Kauert-Tour downhill. In a long right curve you arrive at the starting point of the route.
