Atmospheric names abound on the Downs; Bramble Bottom, Pea Down, Eldon Bottom, Crapham Down and Wigden's Bottom are some we encounter on this walk. A rarity, virtually the whole walk is on grass! On open, rolling downland, west of Eastbourne, passing several dew ponds, we walk through classic sheep country. After climbing up the gentle slope of a beautiful tranquil valley, we come back to reality with a stretch of the South Downs Way , yielding panoramic views of Eastbourne and the coast to Hastings and beyond. Rating 3. Time 2h 10m. Distance 9.6kms. Ascents 245m. Descents 245m. Route Circular. Refreshments 0.
