The path to the summit of Coriscao runs along the border between the autonomous regions of Castilla y León and Cantabria and the southern end of the Picos de Europa National Park. In terms of landscape, the mountain range is somewhat rugged: dense mats of pink heather and yellow broom cover the barren slopes, where the bare rock is exposed, it is covered with strikingly bright green lichens. However, the view of the Picos and the mountainous surroundings of the Cantabrian Mountains, which the summit offers hikers on clear days, is unique.
From the turning circle of Collado de Llesba, a two-track boot track leads left (west) up the grass- and broom-covered slope. Further up, it branches into several path tracks; we tend to keep right. After a first small saddle, we continue along the right side of the slope. Continuing up the grassy ridge, we pass a pole at about 1811 m altitude. We go straight ahead and then continue on the right side of the slope. The path brings us almost level but very worn at the end and sloping to the right to a small saddle, 1871 m, at the foot of Peña Gustal (1947 m), whose rock is colored green by lichens. The path climbs to the left of the rock and then heads along its west side toward Coriscao, easily recognizable by its white summit.
