The southernmost point of Corfu, a military observatory, an old ruined monastery, an endless virgin beach, agricultural crops and a hidden lake await hikers along this route.
Among the options of Corfu Paths, this hike could not be missing. After the village of Kavos a dirt road gently climbs up to a dilapidated concrete building, built on the edge of the cliff and covered in vegetation, which served as a German observation post during World War II. The road, overlooking the sea and Paxos island, soon reaches the ruined monastery of Arkoudilas. A path through the forest ends at the southern edge of Arkoudilas beach, where the Careta-careta turtles nest. The route now follows the beach.
At the end of the beach a road continues to the north. Shortly after, the route climbs the slope and crosses the ridge. An easy dirt road returns to Kavos and towards the end meets an artificial lake that suddenly appears between the green hills.
