Circular trekking route starting and ending at "Parcheggio Madonnina dei Cacciatori", Bettona.
The route starts from the historic meeting point of the local hunters, where there are also benches and tables for some relaxation at the end. The path winds along roads and trails immersed in the woods of the Bettona hills between Malandruge and Montilano passing through Monte Cinque Querce, where the monumental Giant Linden stands tall. Slightly ahead, you can see the ruins of the "Cirichella" house, the setting of a tragic battle during World War II. You enter and exit the forest several times and in several parts it is possible to glimpse spectacular panoramas, from the valley below up to the rounded summit of the nearby Monte Subasio and to the more distant Monte Vettore.
Author’s recommendation
By paying attention, you can spot animal tracks in the ground left by the creatures living in the woods, which are rarely seen during the day; among them are wild boar, badger, beech marten, fox, and also the wolf.
