Roadbook
The circular route starts at the Schwangau Tourist Information, which is located in the Schwangau Castle Brewery, Gipsmühlweg 5. There is a large disabled parking lot and disabled toilets on the premises, which are accessible during the opening hours of the Castle Brewery and the Tourist Information.
From the Tourist Information, follow the Gipsmühlweg in the direction of Hohenschwangau. This is wide, flat, paved and has little traffic, as only residents' cars are allowed there. There are many benches along the way and signs to Hohenschwangau throughout. You can also expect a breathtaking view of the royal castles of Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau and the Schwangau mountain scenery. After about 2 kilometers you reach the shady forest as well as the gypsum mill and the small stream Pöllat. Here the tarmac path turns into a wide and flat gravel path, which even after a few rainy days is vibration-free and without puddles. The wide gravel path leads you further into the village of Hohenschwangau. There, at the Hohenschwangau gynaecological school, the path changes into a road (Pöllatweg) with a tarred sidewalk. At the end of the road, turn right and stay on the sidewalk of Colomanstraße for around 800 meters. Then turn right onto Alex-von-Wagner-Weg. This is a wide, flat tarred path that is only accessible to residents. At the end of the path, turn right onto the sidewalk of Schwangauer Straße. Here, too, you can expect wonderful views of the Schwangau landscape and benches to rest on. Now it is only a good kilometer back to the starting point.
The entire circular route is stepless, low-vibration and signposted throughout. There are also no barriers, bollards or obstacles.
