Circular route to the high mountain lake Lac d'Ifni
The high mountain region around the enchanting mountain lake Lac d'Ifny, embedded like an emerald pearl in the bizarre high mountain scenery of the Toubkal National Park, harbors, in addition to its breathtaking natural beauty, a variety of charming small mountain villages with beautiful, small mosques, old adobe houses, and idyllic cultivated fields with various vegetables and fruits.
They are fed by the stream flowing down the valley from the lake, thus making an essential contribution to the livelihood of the local population. Therefore, the lake serves not only as a visually attractive and popular tourist destination but also as a lifeline for the entire valley. From the small village of Amsouzart, the path follows a narrow asphalt road into the valley through several small villages with charming old adobe houses and beautifully arranged terraced fields, which form a green ribbon along the valley up to the last settlement. Apples, walnuts, zucchinis, cucumbers, pumpkins, tomatoes, corn, potatoes, and much more are abundantly cultivated here. The lake's water provides the necessary basis for the plants to thrive even in the late summer months.
