Ravdoucha on the east coast of the Rodopou Peninsula is somewhat off the beaten path, the place with a boat dock and pebble beach is only accessible via a narrow side road. On the small circular route, we pass two churches and three chapels. A gem of art history are the frescoes in Agia Marina. Beautiful views and a good place to stop make the short tour particularly appealing.
The hike begins in Ravdoucha at the fork opposite the church of Agios Georgios. From the parking lot, we follow the initially wide concrete path that runs above the cemetery. After three minutes, a bench is reached from which you look down at a boat dock you have to descend to. South of it, Cape Sideris juts into the sea, at the foot of the cliff we can spot the hiking destination, the Waves on the Rock tavern. Then we ignore two right-turning paths and proceed straight through a terraced olive grove slightly downhill. Shortly after a house with bougainvillea climbing over a fence, we take the left path at a fork. This swings sharply right after a stately villa and reaches Agios Fotios, 99 m, a few minutes later. The simple chapel surrounded by olive trees is dedicated to Fotios (d. 891), former Patriarch of Constantinople and venerated as a saint. A picnic table invites you to rest in front of the chapel.
