Circular route at the Diablerets rockslide
The rockslide of Derborence about 300 years ago created a valley full of wild beauty. On the circular route, the hiker discovers an exceptionally large diversity of species.
In 1714 and 1749, two large rockslides thundered into the valley above Sion at Derborence. The Diablerets (=Devil's Mountains) were the mountains that buried an entire village beneath them. The debris dams formed a lake that was long avoided. As a result, nature was able to spread unhindered around the lake. Even today, the valley is only accessible in summer. The beauty of Derborence is protected. On the circular route, the hiker feels the power of nature and experiences the beauty of this untouched nature. The well-marked circular route leads directly from the parking lot through the wild landscape. Time has allowed primeval-like trees to grow on the debris heaps. In between, the path also leads through lush green mountain meadows with countless alpine flowers. The circular route ends with a walk to Lac de Derborence. By then, taking a souvenir photo is a must.
