Roadbook
From the parking lot, we take the street straight ahead, follow the path to the right with the red-white hiking mark, and leave the village. We reach the forest and climb the mountain further following the signs. After hiking between rocks, the path becomes flatter and we exit the forest. Here, we leave the hiking signs and follow the path to the right, which after a left curve reaches a wide track. We turn right and pass a wayside cross erected in gratitude for the return from the World War 1914-1918.
We continue straight ahead, cross the wide saddle between the mountains Rabenstein and Heidenstein, then walk along the left edge of the meadow and reach the forest. Straight ahead we descend the mountain now following the blue-white signs. We ignore all turning paths, continue descending the mountain, come to a hollow way and reach the forest edge above Demmelsdorf. On the left above we can now make out the Giechburg, which dates back to the 10th to 12th centuries.
We pass the first houses, walk straight ahead along fields and meadows, and reach the village center. We keep right and immediately again. We leave the village and then turn left. On the right in the valley of the Würgauer Bach we see a wayside chapel from the 2nd half of the 19th century in the distance. From the path we see to the south the Giechburg and the Gügelkirche St. Pankratius from the early 17th century. We turn on the 2nd path to the right, cross the rise, and enter the valley of the Würgauer Bach, which we follow to the left. We pass a small field altar from 1883 and a wayside shrine from 1726 and see on the left the cemetery chapel from 1868.
At the end of the fields, we climb a small staircase on the left, turn right, and then turn left. Shortly afterwards, we follow a path to the right and thus reach the parish church St. Kilian, which was built around 1400. After visiting the church, we go along the street to the right and then turn right again. Now we follow the main road, leave the village, see the Jura clinic on the left, and can stop by the Jura Café in front of it. After the Netto supermarket on the right, we come to the Würgauer Bach and turn right immediately afterwards.
We now always walk along close to the stream and are accompanied on the left by an industrial area. Where the path practically ends, it is best to stay at the left edge of the meadow and then go right where we meet a path. We now walk directly along the stream, come to the road, turn left and immediately right. We pass the aforementioned wayside chapel and then turn right to move further away from the busy road. At the top, we meet a wide path, follow it to the left, and from there have a beautiful view over the landscape. We continue straight ahead, come to Würgau, can visit there the church St. Andreas from 1733, and finally refresh ourselves in the Brauereigasthof Hartmann.
