One of the most beautiful walking routes in Bavaria - right at the foot of the Zugspitze with stunning views included
The hike around the Eibsee is one of the absolute classics among walking routes in Bavaria - and for good reason: Even without much effort, anyone can enjoy nature and a dreamlike landscape here. Stunning views from above of the turquoise-colored lake and its small islands make the circular route just as much a highlight as the paths directly along the shore.
The Eibsee gets its name from the yew tree - this tree species used to grow abundantly around the lake. Today, only isolated yews can be found. There are places to stop for refreshments at the start and end points of the circular route. Since the circular route is well frequented, it is worth starting early.
The variant presented here runs counterclockwise, but in principle the path can be walked in both directions. Despite gravel paths, the easy hike is suitable for both strollers and wheelchairs (recommended: with an accompanying person).

Even in winter, a walk around the Eibsee is a great outing - you can even pull children on sleds along behind you!
