The cable car conveniently reaches Cardada, the local mountain of Locarno, which rises high above Lake Maggiore between the Valle Maggia and the Val Verzasca. The first part leads through the forest, then over scenic terrain along marked paths up towards Cima della Trosa. The first half of the ascent runs flat in a wide arc along the west side of the Cimetta. However, the majority of the elevation gain is tackled only in the second half. But for that, you are rewarded on the summit with an impressive 360-degree view. On the return from Cima della Trosa along the east side of the Cimetta, several mountain huts invite you for a cozy stop.

Roadbook
Near the mountain station of the Orselina-Cardada cable car (1,340 m) is the valley station of the Cardada chairlift to the Cimetta. At the nearby fork, keep left. Follow the marked hiking trail, which leads flat along the west side of the Cimetta. Above the houses of the Alpe Vegnasca, you overcome the steep slope to the Bassa di Cardada saddle (1,610 m) in tight hairpin bends. Continuing steadily uphill, you follow the marked path to Cima della Trosa (1,869 m). The descent takes you over the Alpe di Bietri (1,499 m) to the Bassa di Bietri saddle (1,448 m). Here, keep right, pass the Capanna lo Stallone (1,486 m) and the nearby Capanna Cardada (1,473 m), and hike along the east side of the Cimetta back to Cardada.
