The Golden Peak (Cima d’Oro) – as this mountain on the northern edge of Lake Ledro is called – is a good tip for those seeking solitude in the Garda Mountains. It gets its name from the golden-yellow color that the setting afternoon sun casts on the summit. Along the ridge line, numerous witnesses from the First World War can still be found today, such as trenches and caverns of the Austrian army. At the main summit, we do not find a summit cross; it is located a little below on the sub-peak at 1703 m. The summit panorama is hard to beat, and from there you can see Lake Ledro, Lake Garda, and even Lake Tenno. On the descent path, we encounter quieter testimonies: shortly before Molina di Ledro, the small pilgrimage church Madonna Addolorata.
From the parking lot in Mezzolago, we go uphill on the narrow paved road, following the signpost "Malga Dromaè" (marking no. 453, red). Between hay barns and holiday apartments, continue to a fork with a fountain (30 minutes). There we keep right, then soon left (where we reach the end of the public road). Now on the wide cart track through beautiful mixed forest into the Val di Dromaè (a dry stream valley), always staying on the main path. At the next forks, first right and then left again, passing a wayside shrine, out of the creek bed of the Val di Dromaè and up to the lower edge of the steep alpine meadows. Here our path bends left again and leads left of the Fienili Dromaè up in 20 minutes to Malga Dromaè, about 2.5 hours from the starting point. Pass the alpine pasture on the right and on a wide path in another 20 minutes to the exposed Bocca Dromaè, 1650 m, where we meet the crosswise path ("Sentiero della Pace") from Bocca Saval. Heinrich Bauregger, geboren 1951 im Berchtesgadener Land, studierte Germanistik und Geschichte (M.A.).
