Chapel Path North

The chapel path leads in a large loop to the churches, chapels, and large image pillars in the Illerwinkel. From the parish church of St. Gordian and Epimachus at the marketplace in Legau, you walk through the town out to the pilgrimage church Maria Schnee in Lehenbühl. Particularly worth seeing is the pilgrimage church Mariä Schmerzen in Maria Steinbach. Pilgrims have been walking the Way of the Cross to Maria Steinbach for more than 250 years. In the hamlets of Oberlandholz, Greiters, Oberwitzenberg, and Wigelis, there are beautiful chapels, testimonies of Christian faith in the countryside. The chapel path can be divided in Legau into a south loop of about 12 km and a north loop (to Maria Steinbach) of around 11 km.
