At the edge of the "Forster Kirchspiel" the reconstructed Pyrmont Castle rises majestically above the three-tiered waterfall of the Elz. The oldest preserved part is the 25 m high Romanesque keep, from which you have a magnificent view over the Maifeld to Eltz Castle. The path now leads to Pyrmont Mill, where a fantastic view of the waterfall and Pyrmont Castle awaits. Afterwards, the path winds through the untouched nature of the Elzbach valley. The trail runs along the main trail of the Eifel Association and is marked by a tricolored "E" (blue, brown, green) on a white background as well as the designation "Osteifelweg". After about 9.5 km you reach the destination: the Sleeping Beauty Castle of the Moselle, Eltz Castle. Thanks to its hidden location, it was spared from any war-related destruction and offers visitors a picturesque view.
