Starting point is Hellenthal at the foot of the Oleft reservoir with wildlife park and bird of prey station. The endpoint is historic Blankenheim with its castle, the Tiergartentunnel and the source of the Ahr. The route can be extended via Eifelsteig and Rur-Olef route over Olef and Nettersheim into an exciting multi-day circular hike
