Castellberg, 440 m, via Beggars' Path and Markgräfler Wiiwegli
The Markgräfler Wiiwegli is 92 kilometers long and leads through the vine-covered hills on the western edge of the Black Forest. Hikers usually need 4 to 5 days to complete the route from Freiburg-St. Georgen to Grenzach-Wyhlen. On our excursion to Tuscany in Baden today, we also follow the yellow grape in a red diamond, which marks the long-distance hiking trail, for a few kilometers. The generally easy hike leads to the Castellberg Tower, built in 1962, and we also have plenty of opportunities to indulge in culinary delights in one of the ostrich taverns along the way or in the pretty little town of Sulzburg. In sections, the route follows the Beggar's Path, which connects Merzhausen with Badenweiler over 27 kilometers.
