A moderately challenging hike, taking about 3 hours in total, that climbs from Carenno to Camozzera and descends via Ocone and Pertus. Caution: There are some fairly technical and exposed sections on the climb up to Ocone.

From the small church of the dead in Carenno, head uphill following the signs for the Genepì hut. You’ll reach it by walking through the woods in about a quarter of an hour—a twenty-minute climb. In another half hour, you’ll reach Pertulena, and from there, continuing along the trail that crosses the ridge a few meters to the right, you’ll switch valleys and head toward Camozzera. This section of the trail is a bit less well-marked than the previous one and also more challenging, as the trail winds along a fairly steep slope. In about half an hour, we reach a fork in the trail and climb steadily toward the pass separating Camozzera and Ocone.
From the fork, head left up to Camozzera in about 10 minutes. Return to the fork and go straight (to the right compared to when you first arrived). The ascent to Ocone is the most challenging section of the route, winding upward among large boulders where you often need to use your hands for support or navigate small crevices and overhangs.
From the summit of Ocone, follow the only trail, which first descends and then climbs back up to the secondary summit, reachable in about another thirty minutes.
From the secondary summit, we follow the trail toward Pertus, descend rapidly, and take the mule trail leading down toward Boccio; however, after the first few switchbacks, we choose a steep trail through the woods—which is quite fun—that quickly brings us back to the starting point.
