The Aberg, the large alpine hollow on the northern slopes of the Langeck, is busy almost all year round. In winter, it is teeming with skiers, while in summer the dense network of roads and paths is packed with hikers enjoying the view of the magnificent mountain range on the southern edge of the Steinernes Meer.
In Unterberg, we walk back from the parking lot at the Abergbahn to the Jetzbach bridge and turn left before it in the direction of "Hundstein". We follow the asphalt road to a fork at the end of the straight and have to choose between the steep hiking trail (Ww. "Hundstein") and the easier but longer road for the rest of the ascent. The latter continues in the direction of "Hintermoos", is asphalted as far as the Christernbauer farm and then winds up to the Christernreith farm (3.7 km from Unterberg) as a gravel road. In a wide left-hand bend, it now continues over glaciated alpine terrain and the Bärmooshütte to the Kröllalm. Above the next hut, we keep right twice to cross the alpine basin one level higher westwards to the summit of the hiking route at the Abergalm and then descend to the Wastlalm. From here, follow the road to Christernreith and either take the road or the hiking trail to the left of the inn into the valley. This follows the "Maria Alm" sign below the Wastlalm and
