What is Bushcraft? It's bushcraft! Not any closer? Then come to the forest between Mogyoród, Szilasliget, and Kerepes, climb the 322-meter-high Szár Hill, and walk this short nature trail—you’ll be much smarter!
What topics can you learn about here? Orientation, fire starting, obtaining water, and similar subjects.
The creators of the trail, members of the Hungarian Bushcraft Association, are nature lovers who enjoy spending long periods in the wild, practicing new food gathering and survival techniques while having a great time. Almost all of them are hikers too, which is why they joined forces in 2017 with the municipality of Kerepes and the Pilisi Parkerdő to create the first Bushcraft nature trail in Hungary.
These signs not only introduce visitors to the local wildlife but each also features an important topic, including many ideas and tips that may surprise even experienced hikers.
Author’s recommendation
At the starting point of the trail, there is a great resting place where you will also find a sign. Here you can read about bushcraft and the purpose of the trail.
It is worth choosing the resting spot named after the domestic father of bushcraft, Tibor "Ales" Makrai, as the destination for a family picnic.

At the beginning of the nature trail, the forestry protects a newly replanted clear-cut area with an electric fence, which can deliver a strong shock even through pants. If you come with a dog, do not let it get close!Tips and suggestions
Nearby on the top of Somlyó Hill in Mogyoród stands the Saint Ladislaus Lookout Tower, designed by Imre Makovecz and currently under renovation.
The trail also has its own geocache, and nearby are several traditional and multi-stage geocaches.
Roadbook
The nature trail route is marked with small yellow wooden signs labeled bushcraft. Of course, you can also start climbing from the foot of the mountain. For those with less physical fitness and the elderly, the organizers have created an intermediate rest area at the 4th station. The Pilisi Parkerdő Zrt has also placed two trash bins along the trail.

Directions
It is recommended to arrive by car on Route 3. There are a few parking spaces on the ridge to the north of Kerepes, called "the horseshoe" by locals (N47° 34.748' E19° 17.452'). From here the trail is very close, so if you want to have a really good hike, park earlier in Kerepes, Szilasliget, or Mogyoród.Parking
