Roadbook
The trail leads gently uphill along wide forest and alpine paths through open meadows.
After gaining the first few meters in elevation, beautiful panoramic views of the Glantal Valley and the surrounding Nockberge Mountains and Gurktal Alps open up.
The trail then continues through quiet wooded areas toward Buggl.
In the Buggl area, you’ll pass several farms.
After that, the loop leads back to Simonhöhe over gentle ridges.

From Klagenfurt to SimonhöheStart in Klagenfurt and take the S37 Klagenfurt Expressway toward St. Veit/Glan.
Follow the S37 for about 20 km to the St. Veit Nord / Simonhöhe exit.
Then turn onto the L61 (Simonhöhestraße) toward Simonhöhe.
The road winds uphill through the villages of Metschach and Sallach.
After about 15–20 minutes on the mountain road, you’ll reach Simonhöhe.

From Sankt Veit an der Glan to Simonhöhe
From the center of St. Veit, take the L61 (Simonhöhestraße) toward Simonhöhe/Feldkirchen.
Follow the road through Metschach and continue uphill.
The route is well-signposted (“Simonhöhe”).
After about 15 km, you’ll reach Simonhöhe.
Travel time: approx. 20–25 minutes Distance: approx. 15 km
In winter, snow chains or winter tires are often necessary, as the road to Simonhöhe can be steep in places.
