The family-friendly circular route starts in Büchelberg, which lies like an oasis in the middle of the Bienwald, the largest contiguous forest area in the Upper Rhine Plain.
The route leads from the quaint town of Büchelberg past orchards into the Bienwald, which has enchanted many with its babbling brooks and gnarly old trees. Along the Aschbach, you reach an obelisk and the Gutenbrunnen. From here, you can also take a short detour to the nearby Lourdes Grotto and the Heilbrunnen. Although the paths are now wider and mostly straight, you can enjoy the peace and get to know the interesting diversity of the Bienwald. Shortly before Büchelberg, when leaving the forest, a wonderful rest area invites you to pause and enjoy the surroundings. On the way to the parking lot, you will pass signs that inform about the traditional form and the species-rich diversity of the "Streuobstwiesen" biotope. The path is very flat and ideal for families. It is marked in both directions, so it can be hiked clockwise or counterclockwise.
UFFBASSE! - Campaign for considerate coexistence in nature
- Fire & smoking - Making fires, smoking, and grilling are strictly forbidden in the forest! Fires and thus great damage to nature and wildlife can only be avoided this way.
- Consideration on the move - Always behave thoughtfully, friendly, and considerately towards everyone you meet on the way.
- Nature conservation - Stay on designated paths and avoid unnecessary noise when you are in nature. Leave the forest no later than dusk to avoid disturbing the rhythm of nocturnal animals.
- Picnic & waste - Bring a trash bag for the way and take your waste back home. Use only the furnished rest areas for breaks and picnics.
- Leash your dogs - Please keep your dog on a leash at all times. Other visitors and animals will thank you.

Safety information
Hiking on natural trails and paths - Especially in autumn, be aware that leaves on the ground can cover unevenness, roots, stones, or holes in the path. After thunderstorms or heavy rain, trees may still fall or branches break off. Under adverse weather conditions, natural paths may be muddy and slippery. Not all rocks or cliffs are secured with ropes or railings. Surefootedness is required in places. You must expect such path impairments when hiking. If you believe certain sections are impassable for you, you should avoid them. Despite the "unmissable" markings of the premium hiking trails, we recommend always carrying an appropriate hiking map for safety reasons, so you can quickly find a safe area in the event of a thunderstorm or emergency. Road closures and detours must be observed.
Danger situations - In an emergency, prompt help is needed. Although mobile phones can send GPS signals, it often goes fastest at the classic rescue points. These are locations well accessible to rescue vehicles. Remember the points with green signs and a white cross. In an emergency, return there and give the number on the sign when calling for help. This way, rescuers will know where to find you.

Roadbook
From the Geisberg parking lot, turn left onto the path into the Bienwald. Follow the path to the Aschbach. At the Aschbach, turn left onto the idyllic trail alongside the brook. Here you can truly enjoy the quiet of the forest. At the end of the path, you reach the Gutenbrunnen and the obelisks set up there. A rest area invites you to take a break.
Now follow wider forest roads. Behind the bridge over the Heilbach, turn right and continue north through the forest. After about 1 km, you reach the K16, which you must cross before returning to the forest. After another 1.5 km, turn right and continue to follow the markings.
Since this path to Büchelberg is also used by cyclists, we ask for mutual consideration so that everyone can enjoy nature. When leaving the forest, you can refresh yourself at the rest area before a gentle ascent to Büchelberg. Through Büchelberg, go past the church into Turmstraße. On the way to the parking lot, you will also pass two signs of the "Streuobstwiesen" discovery trail, illustrating the species-rich biotope found around Büchelberg.
