At the southeastern edge of Szczecin, the Buchheide (Szczeciński Park Krajobrazowy »Puszcza Bukowa«), a gently rolling hilly landscape, rises steeply from the plain. The popular local recreation area of Szczecin is crisscrossed by deeply cut valleys through which clear streams meander. Hidden in the magnificent beech forests are countless glacial erratics of all sizes; we will visit some of them.
We start our hike at the terminus of the express buses from the Szczecin city center and follow a black stripe marker to the motorway underpass. In the forest, it immediately goes steeply uphill, and after just a few minutes, we reach the first large erratic/Głaz Grońskiego, which was transported here from Scandinavia by the glaciers of the Ice Age. On the stone is a metal plaque commemorating the well-known Szczecin mountaineer and conservationist Stanisław Groński, who tragically died during a tour on Mont Blanc in August 1957. Through beautiful beech forest, we now hike for 20 minutes with the black stripe marker in easy but steady ups and downs to a second erratic called Głaz Serce Młyński, of which only the head protrudes from the ground. Behind it, our path descends steeply into a small valley, but then immediately rises again to a large junction where the marker is unfortunately not visible. Ahead, we see the unfortunately inaccessible fire watchtower on the 184 m high
