The Brunelli Path starts at the Ponte delle Capre junction on SS 46 Contrà Manfron and develops in a loop that ascends towards Monte Singìo, crossing beech woods, old mule tracks, and historic rural hamlets. Along the route, you can appreciate open views of the valley and encounter traces of the local agricultural economy: dry stone walls, votive shrines, stone houses. The surface varies between rural roads, forest paths, and dirt sections; the elevation gain is moderate, making the route suitable for hikers with a steady pace. The return leads back to the starting loop completing the walk.
This route combines the Mondonovo Path and the Cengìo Path, centered on Contrada Manfron, the setting of the book "La valle dell'Orco" by the local writer Umberto Matino.
In the novel, Contrà Manfron is renamed Brunelli; the path is named in tribute to the book set precisely in these areas.
Author’s recommendation
- The elevation gain of this route is quite challenging. If you are not very fit, you can travel the two trails that make up the Brunelli Path separately.
- Bring trekking poles with you: they help on steep and downhill sections.
- Avoid distractions (phone, music with headphones): enjoy the sounds of nature.

Roadbook
The path connects the trails of Mondonovo and Singìo:
Start at the parking lot located in front of Ponte delle Capre, on the right along SP 46 towards Valli del Pasubio (about 1.6 km from the center of Torrebelvicino).
Cross the road and take the bridge over the Leogra Torrent.
The ascent begins on asphalt; pass the historic hydroelectric plant (1889); after some hairpin bends, head toward Contrada Rizza.
After about 0.7 km, avoid a right turn and reach the hamlet; reverse direction (left) and pass through it.
At the fork, follow left on a gentle descent along a silvo-pastoral road which leads, after about 1.6 km, to Contrada Casarotti.
Upon reaching Contrada Casarotti, turn left towards "Contrada Casarotti di Sopra." From there, head south towards Monte Cengìo, and after about 50 m take a dirt road on the right with a slight ascent.
Continue straight without deviations along the country road connecting Contrada Casarotti to Contrada Manfron; you pass through an area characterized by dry stone walls (“masière”).
From the small square of Contrà Manfron, take the road rising to the right, towards the shrine of Madonna del Carmelo.
After passing the fountain with the shrine of Sant’Antonio, at the fork take the path on the right with a gentle descent crossing a small stream in the valley bottom.
Cross the small bridge and after a short ascent, a meadow area opens with views of Monte Novegno, the Pasubio massif, and the Upper Val Leogra.
Continue ascending; at the next fork turn right and leave the main road.
Upon reaching a crossroads with a wide dirt road (connecting Passo della Camonda to the refuge), continue east on the level dirt road.
After about 30 minutes, reach a crossroads: here turn left downhill and at the first hairpin turn take the left path heading towards Monte Cengìo.
Continue on the path – partly a World War I military mule track – with switchbacks and a climb of about 150 m elevation, until reaching the crest near the summit of Monte Singìo.
From the ridge or summit, take the wide dirt road ascending to the top (or descending to the valley) and proceed toward “Baita da Angelo”; then take the road downhill towards Passo Manfron.
From Passo Manfron, take the road towards Contrada Manfron.
Back in Contrada Manfron, turn right on the paved municipal road descending towards the valley; after about 30 m, before the parking area, turn left on a descending path with rough ground.
You arrive at a hairpin turn from which you can see Contrada Mondonovo at the valley bottom (above Contrada Masieron and to the right Contrada Feltrin). Continue straight with no deviations to the hamlet.
Return: after passing Contrada Mondonovo, take the right deviation crossing the stream again; continue on the paved municipal road with a slight ascent. In a pine forest on the right, leave the road and take a path on the left which runs for a good part through Val di Sagno.
In the final stretch, you encounter a farming shed; after about 0.6 km you reach Agriturismo Sagno (Contrada Sagno). From here, following the paved road, you quickly return to Ponte delle Capre and the starting point.
