Author’s recommendation
Those who pack a kite in their backpack will find a great launch site for kite flying at the summit.
In spring, the summit meadow is a pure floral spectacle.

When wet, the root passages in the forest are slippery and must be traversed with appropriate caution.
The last (pathless) section to the summit also requires careful walking because the cows leave many tracks in which water often collects.
Roadbook
Initially, the path leads on the paved forest road from Berggasthof Rosengasse toward Brünnsteinhaus up to the Rosengassen-Alm. From here, a increasingly steep hiking path climbs the slope to the forest on the left. Over some root passages (caution: slippery when wet), it goes uphill until at the end of the forest a pasture fence has to be climbed over. Now you leave the forest and follow the path across a meadow that is quite level along the slope. Through short forest sections, the path goes on narrow trails sometimes a few meters uphill and then back downhill. You always keep towards Brünnsteinhaus through alpine terrain and over wooden bridges across some swampy meadows. In between, on the left, you repeatedly see the broad meadow mound of the Brünnsteinschanze: our destination for the day. The path leads onto a forest road which we follow a bit downhill toward Brünnsteinhaus until we turn left at a fork to Seelacher-Alm. Now it goes steeply uphill again, first over an alpine meadow, later through forest to a saddle. In front of us lies in a hollow the Seelacher-Alm and on the right behind the trees we see Brünnsteinschanze again. We now leave the hiking path and follow the trail to the right across the meadow on the ridge and then left towards the peak meadow mound of the Brünnsteinschanze. On trail marks (whether from cows or hikers is hard to say) it goes increasingly steep uphill and maybe one or two times on the steep alpine meadow we have to help ourselves with our hands. Further up it flattens again and soon we reach the wide summit meadow with the summit cross.
The descent follows the ascent path.
