ASCENT: From the lift station (1264 m) we hike with slight ascents to Bärstättalm (1452 m) and further to Kobingerhütte (1501 m). At about 1770 m we descend slightly to the beautiful Kreuzjöchlsee with resting benches. The Brechhornhütte (1660 m) is nearby, from there it goes down again slightly to Kreuzjöchl (1919 m). Now follows the summit ascent, which leads us with a small descent to the Schiedererkopf (1802 m). Then the hiking trail continues without elevation loss for the final ascent to the Brechhorn (2032 m) with magnificent views of the striking Großer Rettenkogel. 910 m elevation gain and 2 1/2 hrs walking time.
DESCENT: Return on the ascent path to Brechhornhaus (1660 m), a good place to stop for refreshments. A small ascent to Kreuzjöchlsee and then via alpine huts back to the lift station. 170 m descent and 2 1/4 hrs.
Total: 1080 m elevation difference and 4 3/4 hrs walking time, approx. 16.6 km distance.

On the Pass Thurn road B 161, either from the north from St. Johann in Tirol to Kitzbühel or from the south from Mittersill via the Pass Thurn. About 7.5 km west from the center to Kirchberg in Tirol and to the Gaisberg lift.Ascent with the Gaisberg lift (€ 13.50 for up and down, price as of 2016) to the lift station.
