The Lippweg is the most attractive path for the ascent to Bogenberg. It crosses the steep west/southwest slope of the mountain. The narrow trail is also demanding and exciting. The views directly onto the Danube below are unique.
The destination of the route, the pilgrimage church, is especially known for the famous "candle pilgrimage" on Pentecost Sunday.
The pilgrimage church Mariä Himmelfahrt on the 432 meter high Bogenberg is an important Catholic pilgrimage site in the Diocese of Regensburg. It is considered the oldest Marian pilgrimage church in Bavaria. For this reason, the Bogenberg, rising 118 meters above the Danube, is also referred to as the Holy Mountain of Lower Bavaria.

The path begins at the southern edge of the town of Bogen at a self-service market. The sign "Lippweg" No. 5 indicates the start of the ascent.
At the end of the development, we turn right uphill and climb the mountain.
At the junction with the "Hangweg", you could shorten the route by following the Hangweg uphill. From this junction, the Lippweg goes with open views past the guesthouse "Schöne Aussicht" to the guesthouse’s parking lot and past it to the pilgrimage church with the cemetery.
On the north side of the cemetery, after a small parking area, the steep Rück-/Janaweg marked No. 12 begins. This joins the ascent path shortly before the end.
