From the parking lot, we climb to the St. Ulrich Chapel (Schimmel Chapel) and continue uphill on the Danube Panorama Route, then turn right onto the Klausenweg 3. We follow this to the St. Salvator Chapel.
At the chapel, we hike uphill to the left and then up to the right on the Ludwigsweg 3 to the street. After crossing the street, we walk a few meters downhill and then northeast on the Marienweg 6 and Quellenweg 8 toward Bogen. After a short section on the Hochweg 9, we turn left onto the Katzenweg 13. Then we turn left again onto the Katzenweglein, which leads us to the highest point of the Bogenberg.
On the descent, we follow the Pilgerweg 11 on the north side, which leads to the Untere Bergstraße, where we turn left and walk to its end (past Nettomarkt) and then left again following the sign "Lippweg" 5 to the foot of the Bogenberg. From there, it goes steeply uphill to the right on the Lippweg to a crossroads. There we take the initially flat Prinz-Heinrich-Weg 1, which runs along the south slope of the Bogenberg and leads into the Danube Panorama Route 2.
From here, we descend back to the St. Ulrich Chapel.

Bogen is easily accessible by bus and train.
The train station is about 500 m from the alternative starting point "Untere Bergstraße".
Directions
Take the A3 exit Bogen towards Straubing and turn right at both traffic lights. Immediately after the second traffic light towards Bogen, turn right at the "Danube Panorama Route" sign to the hiking parking lot under the St. Ulrich Chapel.
From the B20, take the Bogen exit and at the end of Bogenberg, turn left at the "Danube Panorama Route" sign to the hiking parking lot under the St. Ulrich Chapel.
